Volunteer: Group Secretary

Role: Group Secretary


  • To ensure efficient and effective administration of group executive meetings

What would I have to do?

  • Prepare and circulate agenda's for meetings
  • Attend meetings to participate and take minutes
  • Circulate minutes to attendees
  • Type any official (ad-hoc) group letters

What support will I get?

  • Support from Group Scout Leader and Group Chair in preparing for meetings 
  • Online email and word processing tools (if required)
  • eMailing list for executive members
  • Charity Trustee training
  • Any minor expenses incurred will be paid 

What skills/time/equipment do I need?

  • Internet access
  • Basic word-processing skills 
  • Organisation to attend meetings and circulate agendas and minutes in good time
  • Low time commitment, meetings are usually one and a half hours every other month 
  • This role will require a CRB check

How long is the job for?

  • This is an elected role for a 12 month term
  • you may choose to stand for election again at that time
